Charles T. and Margaret W. Koehler Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Koehler to support adults going back to school. This scholarship is offered to students residing in Butler County, Ohio. Margaret (Peggy) graduated from Ohio University in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She taught elementary education in the Cleveland, Columbus and Hamilton, Ohio public school systems before becoming a full-time homemaker. Peggy was active in The Civelles Club, the Hamilton Woman’s Club and various bridge groups throughout her lifetime. She was also a lifelong member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Charles was a graduate of Hamilton High School class of 1944. He served in the U. S. Navy Air Corps in Aviation Electronics from 1945 to 1946. He graduated with a degree in Economics from Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio in 1949. He later completed post graduate studies in Metallurgical Engineering at Ohio State University.He began his career at Hamilton Brass and Aluminum Castings Company in 1950. Hamilton Brass was founded by his father, Charles E. Koehler in 1914. Chuck became President and Founder of Centri-Cast Corporation in 1958. He succeeded his father as President of Hamilton Brass in 1975. He was Co-founder of Miami-Cast Corporation, Miamisburg, Ohio in 1993. Miami-Cast Corporation succeeded Barry Foundry, which was founded in 1841 and was the oldest foundry west of the Allegheny Mountains. He retired in 1989 and was succeeded by his son, Tom Koehler. The Koehler’s had two children, Marcia Bunce and Tom Koehler. Charles passed away in 2006 and Peggy in 2015.
