Andrea Chizek Memorial Scholarship

Andrea Chizek Memorial Scholarship

Andrea Wagner Chizek lost her courageous battle with cancer on May 5, 2010. Her husband, Marc, established this scholarship to honor her commitment to education. Andi was passionate about learning. As a dedicated teacher, she shared her love of knowledge with her students. Andi enjoyed teaching in the Hamilton City School District for more than 30 years. She was honored with many awards and recognized by her peers and administrators for her outstanding academic contributions and commitment to the community. Emily Dickinson wrote, “Not knowing when the dawn will come, I open every door.” Andi opened door after door throughout her life. This need-based scholarship will open the door to higher learning to a senior who attended Monroe/Ridgeway Elementary and who is graduating from Hamilton High School planning to pursue a degree in education.

Impact

Since its establishment in 2010, the Andrea Chizek Memorial Scholarship, in partnership with the Hamilton Community Foundation, has supported students pursuing a career in education.
