Alberta Pratt Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Miss Pratt with the hope of helping others who intend to enter a health-related profession. Miss Pratt was an Ohio University graduate with a nursing degree. She was employed in the Admitting Department of Mercy Hospital Hamilton for eight years. She started the Hamilton Blood Bank, which she operated for 14 years. In addition, Miss Pratt owned and operated the Hamilton Telephone Answering Service for 17 years. She passed away on June 19, 1993, at the age of 83.

Impact

Since its establishment in 1996, the Joseph Abbott Memorial Scholarship, in partnership with the Hamilton Community Foundation, has awarded more than $290,000 in scholarships to students pursuing a career in healthcare.
